Remodeling your home?  While its first priority to choose layouts, paint colors, and new styles of furniture, appliances, and accessories, don’t let your floor be the last thing you think of. Your floor is an important part of your home and is the most often seen by you and your guests.  It’s important to pick a flooring option that not only fits your budget but is durable as you are probably hoping to have it for years to come.

Here are some different flooring options to explore when renovating or remodeling your home!

Vinyl Tile

Vinyl tile is a great option if you’re looking for cost-effective and aesthetically pleasing flooring.  Examples of vinyl tile include realistic designs including wood, marble, stone, slate, and ceramics.

You may remember vinyl tile as something of the past, but it is regaining popularity in homes.  Vinyl tile offers a softer and warmer platform for feet and is easy to clean and install.

While some people vehemently resent carpet, others love it.  As long as you properly maintain carpet, it can contribute to a healthy home environment.  Note that if you or someone in your household suffers from allergies, the carpet may not be the right flooring option for you.

Carpet is soft, warm, and offers comfortable and safe footing for adults and children alike.  Many different colors, styles, and textures are available to choose from.

Laminate floors are less expensive than hardwood but look just the same.  The natural woods, stains, and finished of hardwood can be found replicated in the laminate.

Laminate is very durable and easy to clean.  Spills won’t do much damage to this type of flooring, and it is a great option if you have a very busy household but are still hoping to have an elegant look and feel.

If you prefer a classic, timeless look, choose hardwood as your flooring option.  Hardwood is available in all sorts of colors, stains, and finishes and adds a certain grandiose to any home (especially darker woods, in our opinion.)

Hardwood is highly durable and can be sanded and refinished multiple times over the years.  Water damage can be an issue.  With a higher price point, hardwood is a good choice for homeowners with a big budget.

Cork and Bamboo

Cork and bamboo floors are most often used in flooring modern homes.  If you are renovating or remodeling and searching for a seldom-used and unique flooring option, cork or bamboo can work for you.  Both are very pricey and offer a natural, earthy look to your home.

Cork and bamboo are eco-friendly and durable.  Bamboo is hypoallergenic and easy to clean, while cork is stain resistant and is durable throughout wear and tear.

What type of flooring will you choose?  The best way to come to a decision is to visit different retailers and collect samples of materials.  You can even get large samples that you can put down on your current floor to help you envision what it will look like upon completion.
